Working in corporate America for many years as a business risk advisor allowed me to see the good, the bad and the ugly in the workplace. The biggest determining factor for success I observed was the leadership of the organization. While I enjoyed developing risk management plans with businesses and non-profit organizations, it became clear I could add more value to them by directly supporting their leadership so they could create the workplace that matched their dreams for success.

It’s true, engaged employees make for a more pleasant, productive and profitable workplace. Profit keeps the organization healthy so it can do more good in the world. I believe people want to do a good job. Think about it, who wakes up and wants to do a bad job? You don’t. People who feel valued and respected will give more.

Honoring people of all backgrounds and cultures is not just a passion, it’s personal. My family includes people of different races, cultural backgrounds and non-traditional lifestyles.           

Traveling to other countries, where I have been able to do leadership training, humanitarian work and teach English, has helped me to become more culturally aware and I incorporate that into trainings.
